What is Scoliosis?

Scoliosis is a condition characterized by an abnormal side ways curvature of the spine. Instead of the spine appearing straight when viewed from the back, it forms a C-shaped or S-shaped curve. This curvature can affect the alignment of the shoulders, hips, and waistline, resulting in an asymmetrical appearance. 

Cause

  • Degenerative scoliosis

  • Idiopathic (unknown cause)

  • Congenital (present at birth

  • Neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy, can contribute to the development of scoliosis.

  • Growth spurts during adolescence: 

  • Connective tissue disorders: Conditions that affect the connective tissues, such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome or Marfan syndrome

  • Injuries to the spine

  • Asymmetrical waistline

  • Back pain

  • Limited mobility

  • Muscle stiffness

  • Uneven shoulder and hip alignment​

Treatment

  • Bracing

  • Chiropractic care

  • Physical therapy

  • Injections: Epidural Steroid Injection and Nerve Block Injection

  • Spinal Cord Stimulation

Cancellation Policy: No-Call / No-Show and Missed appointments without a full 24-HR notice will be charged a $65.00 missed appointment fee. The missed appointment fee must be paid prior to any future appointments being scheduled.
