Plantar Fasciitis, Foot Pain, Heel Pain, Heel Spur

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of foot pain, radiating from the bottom of the heel throughout the foot. Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot, connecting your heel bone to your toes.

Causes

  • Prolonged running, standing, or walking

  • Sedentary lifestyle

  • Poor shoe support

  • Obesity

  • Overuse

Symptoms

  • Arch pain

  • Heel swelling

  • Foot tenderness

  • Pain that worsens upon standing

Treatment for plantar fasciitis is aimed at reducing heel pain, inflammation, and improving the flexibility of the plantar and may include rest, ice, compression, and elevation therapy, and anti-inflammatory medications. Corticosteroid injections provide relief by reducing inflammation.
