Phantom Limb Pain

Phantom limb pain is the sensation of pain in a limb that has been amputated, even though the limb is no longer physically present. It's a complex neurological phenomenon where the brain continues to receive signals that feel like pain in the missing limb.
Patients may experience severe, debilitating phantom limb pain sensations, while some amputees experience non-painful phantom sensations as if they are gesturing or trying to pick something up, in addition to feeling tingling, numbness, hot, or cold sensations.
Treatment Options:
Spinal Cord Stimulation is a promising treatment option for phantom limb pain, offering significant pain relief and improved function for individuals with lower limb amputations.
Orthopaedic Spine & Joint Center uses the latest technology in Spinal Cord Stimulation. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call (614) 318-0808.
